The business development division of The Chamber, consisting of The Scranton-Lackawanna Industrial Building Company (SLIBCO), The Scranton Plan, and the Lackawanna Industrial Fund Enterprise (LIFE), has spearheaded the development of 15 business parks, development of 22 million square feet, creating more than 42,000 jobs and a community investment of more than $2 billion to northeastern Pennsylvania.
The Chamber’s business incubator program serves as a gateway to resources for entrepreneurs looking to start or expand their business in Lackawanna County. The Chamber’s business incubator program fosters job creation and stimulates business growth in line with clients’ business plans.
The Chamber’s government affairs division works closely with local, regional, state, and federal officials to offer support and advocate on behalf of its members. The Chamber puts the needs of the business community at the forefront of its advocacy efforts by helping to ensure a positive governmental climate for business growth and development.
The Chamber is dedicated to community leadership and professional development through its division, Leadership Lackawanna. It's six programs: teen, collegiate, leadership fundamentals 2.0, core, executive leadership, and Welcome Scranton! -- enhance the skills, connections, and knowledge of emerging and established leaders, enabling them to better serve in our communities, workplaces and organizations.
MetroAction provides impact-driven lending to transform underserved markets by making capital and support resources available to entrepreneurs. In doing so, it creates economic opportunity, stimulates job growth and creates a transformative impact on our region. MetroAction is a nonprofit community development organization dedicated to providing small business loans and counseling throughout northeastern Pennsylvania (NEPA). We are a division of The Chamber.
The workforce development division of The Chamber. Through its partnerships and connections with students, school districts, higher education, and the business community, Skills in Scranton works to develop strategies that provide career pathways for education while building a talent pipeline. Across its workforce initiatives, Skills in Scranton ensures that northeastern Pennsylvania's workforce meets the current and future needs of the region's existing and target industries.
